about

Debut album from Anglo-Faroese group playing 18th-century dance tunes and popular melodies in refreshing new arrangements.

Totally acoustic recording in natural stereo: nothing added - nothing taken away.

The Faroese scholar Jens Christian Svabo (1746-1824) was a keen violinist and he kept a notebook of tunes (dated 1775) during his time in Copenhagen. The book was discovered during renovations of his former house in Tórshavn - the capital of the Faroe Islands - in 1928. On this world premiere recording, the group Svabonio brings this music to life in a voyage through time.
